The game, older than the Model T or Edison’s light bulb, has played an enormous role in shaping American culture. From millions of youngsters playing on their local fields to the few making millions playing in stadiums, baseball has affected just about every citizen of the world in one way or another. Terms like “homerun” and “strikeout” are prevalent in especially America’s English vernacular and billions of dollars are made each year stemming from the wide-reaching industry that baseball creates. The amount of baseball in American's every day lives has grown each year since the beginning, but now the game has stretched far more than it originally was thought to. Physicists have studied the game’s properties, politicians have employed its popularity to reach voters, and economists have turned this loving sport into a moneymaker. The phrases like "baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie" derive from the national pride of how baseball, along with apple pie and hot dogs, fuels the true American. Baseball is America’s favorite pastime, that is clear; but what our group wants to focus on are the reasons and implications of this coming about and how the game has spread throughout the world. What has earned baseball this prestigious title over the multitude of other sports and hobbies that American’s enjoy? Why has baseball integrated into and become a staple of American culture? How has baseball changed with the times? How have the times changed with baseball? So Let us "pitch" you the idea of how baseball has changed the game of America in many different areas.
